Shenzhen is one of China’s main financial centers. In 2014，the value added from Shenzhen’s financial industry was 223.754 billion RMB, representing an increase of 13.80% over the previous year. Shenzhen’s financial industry accounted for 14.00% of its GDP, the highest financial industry-GDP ratio amongst mainland China’s cities. There are over 400 separate financial institutions in Shenzhen, and the city’s overall financial assets, domestic and foreign currency deposit balance and loan balance all ranked third nationwide. Shenzhen also relied on its internet-sector advantages in establishing the first internet-based bank nationwide, “WeBank”. Districts in which financial services are heavily clustered include Futian District, Luohu District, and the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone ("Qianhai Cooperation Zone"). Two of the better known Shenzhen-based financial enterprises are China Merchants Bank and Ping An Insurance.
